Welcome to the Birding Apparel Page
What is the well-dressed bird watcher wearing today? Well, he or she is not wearing clothes that are bulky or make noise. (no bells on your collar unless you tend to get lost.)
Most birding is done at dawn when the ground is wet and cold. Wear dry, warm, wet resistant shoes or boots.
Dress in light-weight layers since the day will get warmer when the sun comes up - honest, it will!
Wear a hat with a broad brim to keep the rising sun off your eyes. Be sure the brim does not get in the way of the binoculars.
Try to find a vest with lotsa pockets because you will learn to carry lotsa stuff, such as a small notebook and a pen.
Try to avoid bright colors unless it is hunting season, in which case your favorite bird is "duck!".
